Large thick octavo, pp xii, + approximately 400 pages with many simple distribution maps, + 76 pages of black and white photographic plates (mainly of leaves against a black background), errata slip loosely inserted, the contents are clean but there are two badly cracked inner hinges, and the stitching will, with use, eventually break; paperback, covers a little worn, spine creased, with the signature of the plant collector T.F. Hewer on the upper cover. The text is in Farsi, but there are latin names, and common names in English. RARE. [Professor T.F. Hewer of Bristol University carried out two botanical expeditions to Iran and Afghanistan. The first saw him spend six months travelling through the two countries in 1969. The second took place in 1971, when he was accompanied by C. Grey-Wilson and at times by Brigadier Brian Archibald Mark Currie and Richard Hewer. This trip yielded 1,800 numbers. Hewer published an account of his 1971 expedition in the journal of the Royal Horticultural Society in 1973. His chief work was in the Department of Pathology, University of Bristol.]. First Edition.
