Hippolyte Baillere, 1854. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1854. No Edition Remarks. 340 pages. No dust jacket. Embossed red cloth with gilt lettering. Vol. II in the series. Rough-cut pages. Rebound with most of original cloth relaid on new cloth; new endpapers. Includes colour frontispiece but missing map. Moderate foxing and tanning to pages and text block edges. Pencil inscriptions to front pastedown, free endpaper, adverts and first few pages; text unaffected. Light cracking and creasing to gutters but binding remains firm. Boards have pronounced corner bumping, fraying and edgewear with moderate staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft crushing to ends; some noticeable chipping and peeling causing some loss to cloth at spine. Several small pale stains to rear. Lettering remains bright and clear.
