Albany: C. Van Benthuysen Printing House, 1867. Later printing. Hardcover. g. 4to. xi,428pp. 63pl. Black cloth with blind and gold embossed ornamentation on front and spine. Title page vignette reproduction of steel plate engraving. Profusely illustrated with b/w reproductions of illustrations and tables describing the fossils of New York, all with protective tissue guards. Contains descriptions and figures of the fossil brachiopoda of the upper Heldberg, Hamilton, Portage and Chemung groups. Scuffing to boards. Left side tail of spine retains 1 1/2" split in cloth. Head and tail of spine bumped and slightly chipped. Water staining on top (and bottom, to lesser degree) pages near gutter affecting early text pages and some rear plates. Foxing to most pages. Overall good condition.
