Quarter bound calf leather, with marbled boards page edges and endpapers. Red and Green leather spine labels lettered in gilt, with raised banding and extensive gilt decoration to spines. Gilt line details to boards. In very good conditions. Corners slightly bumped, edges rubbed, some light rubbing to boards, some rubbing to edges of spines. Bookplates to endpapers “Thomas Evans.” some darkening and mild foxing to endpapers and title pages, main title page darkened opposite frontis plate. Engraved plates are foxed and darkened. Some mild foxing to inside pages, stain to p10-11 vol.2., else pages clean and tight. 351 + 364pp. Illustrated with 3 b&w steel engraved plates.
