Illustré par un beau frontispice gravé sur bois et un autre grand bois gravé à pleine page : on y voit un thermopolium romain, un genre de taverne où l'on servait des repas chauds et des boissons. Sommaire : - Vinification et conservation des vins. - Consommation des vins liée aux conditions de santé. - Caractéristiques particulières des vins. - Usage des vins dans l'antiquité classique. - Vins des différentes régions d'Italie. - Vins importés à Rome. - Vins étrangers. Andrea Bacci, (1524-1600) premier médecin du Pape Sixte VI, est l'auteur de nombreux travaux d'érudition et c'est ici son oeuvre la plus importante. Exemplaire probablement de premier tirage : le premier feuillet de texte est paginé "4", alors que dans tous les exemplaires que l'on peut voir en ligne, cette erreur est corrigée en "1".
