Sir William Jardine was a 19th-century Scottish naturalist most known for his extensive series of books on natural history, 'The Naturalist's Library'.
This edition of Jardine's 'Ornithology' is beautifully illustrated with engravings of various species of fish! The plates from Jardine's works are exceedingly desirable and are found framed and displayed by themselves. This volume showcases various perch-like fish such as the Zingel, Pike, Oriental gramistes or Blenny, cirrhites or hawkfish, black bass, and many others.
