Biography of the English wood-engraver and natural history writer, Thomas Bewick (1753-1828), famous for his 'History of British Birds'. 458pp with index, illustrated with 8 pages of plates, two maps and numerous black and white reproductions to the text. Yellow lettering to spine, cream endpapers. Very slight forward lean to spine and slight bumping to lower corner, otherwise lovely near fine copy with no inscriptions. Unclipped DJ has minor edge and surface wear, otherwise very good..
