Bump to top corner else a lovely copy of a remarkably scarce book. Katharine Luomala (1907 – 1992) was an American anthropologist known for her studies of comparative mythology in Oceania. Born in Cloquet, Minnesota and educated at the University of California, Berkeley, Luomala began her anthropological studies there by working with the Navajo people in the 1930s, chronicling their changing lives. She earned her AB in 1931, MA in 1933, and PhD in 1936. In her introduction she states that she wrote this at the specific behest of the National Park Service. [Together with] LINK, Martin A. [editor]. Navajo: A Century f Progress, 1869-1969. Window Rock [AZ]: published by the Tribe, 1948. First trade edition. Quarto. 107, [3] pp. With photographic illustrations on nearly every page. Publisher's turquoise cloth with black and gilt cover and spine lettering, black endpapers, original glassine stamped in a web pattern (two tears to front). An excellent copy.
