Published in a numbered, limited edition version of 50 copies that were bound in brown leatherette with dark brown spine, no jacket as issued, housed in similar slipcase with title and buffalo skull embossed on front.
This is one of 5, un-numbered Artist's Proof copies with NO laid-in, original art by illustrator Ernest Franklin. Book differs from the numbered versions by having a color, glossy piece of Franklin art as a pastedown on the front board. This signed Artist's Proof is paired with a framed original illustrion from "Navajo Taboos" by Ernie Bulow in 1991. An ink drawing used in the book then later colored by Ernest Franklin and Signed (see page 170 for the black and white illustration). Silver frame with blue matting, it measures approx 10 x 11 1/2 inches and the watercolor original measures approx 6 x 8 inches.
