About This Item

Chicago; Lombard, IL: Illinois Big Mountain Support Group, 1986. Handbill. 8.5x11 inch handbill, printed both sides, very good. Published by opponents of the evacuation of Navajo traditionalists from land that had been granted to the Hopi (some Hopi were to be relocated as well). While the separation was ordered in 1974 to ameliorate longstanding conflict between the two peoples, many activists believed the ultimate reason for the evacuation was corporate desire to mine the land.
