Preface and letter to his eldest son precedes the Naval Tracts. Bound to style ion quarter calf, spine in seven compartments with raised bands; red leather lettering piece, gilt. A fine copy. And an important work of naval history, containing accounts of the Drake-Norris Portugal expedition (1589); The Earl of Cumberland's privateering expeditions (1586-1598); the capture of Madre de Dios (1592); Drake and Hawkins last voyage (1595-96) and more. There is also early information on fisheries and whaling. See Cox II, 438.
