Blue cloth, gilt lettrng, a.e.g. (rubbng, edgewear, rubbng to fore-edges of first few leaves), still a G copy. Expanded edition of Buel’s travel narrative through Tsar Alexander’s Russia -- published originally under the title Russian Nihilism -- after the Crimean War, and the continuing terrorist actions by the Nihilist movement of the time; with special emphasis on their Siberian prisons. Of particular interest is his analysis of the impacts of the Spanish-American War and its expansionism on the United States, as well as other governments.
