First Edition of the first series published in 1855. Original green cloth embossed boards with titles in gilt on front and spine. Corners bumped and spine sunned with some edge wear. 79pp including index. Frontispiece and seven other coloured plates of eggs containing 48 different species. Sm. 8vo. Part of the Young Naturalist's Library edited by Adams. Previous owners’ names on front endpaper, one dated 1860 and one 1940. Binding cracked but sound inside. Generally nice and clean inside with lovely plates.
