New York: Harper & Brothers, (1942). First edition. INSCRIBED BY ALGREN, "For Jimmy Cannon, Who knows it's from the depths the stars shine clearest, God bless his Merry Christmas. Nelson Algren, '57." Journalist Jimmy Cannon (1909-1973) was inducted to the International Boxing Hall of Fame for his coverage of the sport. Bottom front corner lightly bumped, tips a little rubbed, light stains to margins of few pages, otherwise very good in good, spine-toned dust jacket with chipping (mostly to corners) and 2-inch tear to top edge front panel.
