Houghton Mifflin. Near Fine. 1907. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. A lovely first edition set of Wiggin most famous work, with a 1st edition 1st issue Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm and an unique presentation copy of New Chronicles of Rebecca. Presentation copy of Chronicles inscribed by Wiggin on the first blank: "To Gibson Bradbury: /From his old friend/+ summer neighbor. /The author/Kate Douglas Wiggin. /Publication Day/April 17th 1907". Laid-in is an autograph note signed by Wiggin (signed with her married surname, Riggs) on plain white paper (folded) : "117 W. 69th St. /Monday May 12/Dear Mr. Schuler, /I did not mean that the A. E. A. /should [? ] authors, I meant/that the Author's League should/stand by their authors..." Sincerely Y/Kate-Douglas Riggs". There is a brief inscription by Wiggin at the top of page 233: "This was rendered into the immortal/tongue by Gibson Bradbury! /KDW". The author's full color bookplate affixed on the front free endpaper, and a later portrait of the author with one of her children is affixed to the front pastedown. Octavo. [278] pages. With eight illustrations inserted throughout. Bound in modern full green levant morocco, spine ruled and lettered in gilt, and tooled and ruled in black, modern marbled endleaves. Light rubbing to binding, some occasional thumbsoiling in text. Near fine. Along with a 1st edition of the Classic Children story. According to BAL - 22632, it seems to be a 4th printing with Page 325, line 9 reading: "… Don't turn in at the side" and Page 327, line 13 "…in the October sun". This copy with the Type A binding variant with publisher letters 1/16 inch high. Small neat bookplate in the front pastedown. Small dot (2mm) in pen at the top of page 84. A very good or better book in a protective acetate cover. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 327 pages. Very Good. Item #13 ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; Signed by Author .
