[London, ca. 1777].. 82pp. Modern half calf and marbled boards, gilt leather label. Lightly tanned, old tidelines in upper and lower margins. Good. Lacking the terminal advertisement leaf. A work important in Canadian constitutional history and for the beginnings of the British regime in Canada. The text includes: "New Commission of the Governor of the Province of Quebec" (George III to Guy Carleton), "Former Commission of Captain General, &c. of Quebec" (George III to James Murray), "King's Proclamation" (of Oct. 7, 1763), "Commission of Vice-Admiral" (George III to James Murray), "Abstract of the Quebec Act," "Commission to the Captain General and Governor New York" (1754 appointment of Sir Danvers Osborn as captain-general and governor-in-chief of the Province of New York), and the first and second charters granted by King Charles II to the Lords Proprietors of Carolina.
