This is a bound volume of 26 issues of the publication "THE NEW ENGLAND FARMER" - A Semi-Monthly Journal Dedicated to Agriculture, Horticulture, and their Kindred. 1850 Volume II; J. Nourse; Quincy Hall, Boston. The issues feature an intricate farm scene masthead as well as "numerous beautiful engravings." Edited by S.W. Cole. With an Index at the front of the volume.

Here are a few examples of the contents: Winter Management of Fowls; Small Potatoes; Long Vitality of Seeds; Remedy for the Poll-Evil; American Tea; Benefits of Deep Ploughing; Nature of Different Soils; Applications of Bones as a Manure; On Suckers of Fruit Trees; Cultivation of Flowers; Wire Fence; Utility of Indian Corn; The Farmer; Grasses; Diseases of Horses; An Old Hive of Bees; Farmers' Ice Houses; Hatching Chickens; The Apple Tree Borer, and much more.

Condition:
The front cover has numerous tiny cloth tears; heavy staining to the back cover; damaged corners and damaged top/bottom edges of the spine. Tight binding with no loose pages - all issues are securely intact. For the most part the pages are in very good condition - mostly clean with occasional light foxing and some heavy tanning to some random pages. A previous owner has written a topic of interest with its corresponding page number on the pastedowns and on a blank end paper (heavy writing on the blank end paper) - for example "407 for pinched hoof in horse," "322 for hydrophobia." Light stain along the outer edge of a front end paper. The first Index page has a 1" tear the outer edge. Overall an excellent reading copy, but fair condition only because of the condition of the covers/spine.
