Dust jacket rubbed; dark streak runs the length of the spine; not price clipped ($2.50); in an archival mylar sleeve. 388 pages. A psychological novel about Peter Derwent, a man with a chaotic life who attempts to lift himself up out of despair and put the pieces of his jumbled jigsaw-puzzle life back together. Set in the pioneer years of Portland, Oregon and in the refuge he takes upon the Long Beach Peninsula, north of Astoria, where he meets with a colony of Finns and begins to construct a world all his own, while literally employing the village to assist him in building his new house.
