London & New York: George Routledge and Sons Not dated -- ca 1875Full blind stamped and gilt decorated brown cloth. The cover and spine are completely covered with gilding and blind stamping. A quite lovely Victorian binding with butterflies, fish, walrus, spider web, insects and a lion on the front board. The spine has a turtle, penguins, a bear and eagle all blind stamped or gilt decorated. Gilt lettering on spine. Mild shelf wear with slight fraying to the cloth at head of spine else very good plus. Dark blue end sheets. Previous owner's name on front flyleaf. Well illustrated with hundreds of wood cut illustrations of animals. . Full Cloth. Very Good. Illus. by With Designs by Wolf, Zwecker, Wier, Coleman, Harvey, and Others Engraved by the Brothers Dalziel. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Hardcover.
