About This Item

New York and London: Mitchell Kennerly, 1913. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Quarto. 269 pages, indexed. Hardcover bound in decorative blue cloth. The binding is rubbed and a bit bumped about the edges. Endpapers are toned. Front flyleaf has a hand written inscription, "Margaret Strudwick, from Marian von R. Phelpe - Christmas 1913." Text is toned and has heavy foxing. There is a square of toning pon page 3 (first pages of Chapter 1) from where a piece of paper had been laid in loosely. Pages 179-192 have a bump at upper right corner. Pages 93-96 have chips on the fore edges from improper opening (not affecting the text). Illustrated with plates. The plates are mostly black and white, but a few are in color. The focus of the book is on art and theatre art in European countries at the outset of the 20th century.
