London:: Edward Orme,, 1818.. First edition.. full straight-grain crimson morocco gilt, a.e.g., by Bayntun. Preserved in a custom slipcase.. Three plates have old marginal tears neatly repaired; those plates were expertly rebacked. Two additional plates have more recent neat repairs to margins. All of the plates are bright completely free of foxing etc., and are fine with the exceptions noted. The handsome binding has some very slight rubbing at the joints but is otherwise fine. . 4to,. Containing One Hundred [hand-colored] Plates, Drawn from the Life and Etched by Samuel Howitt.. Hand-colored copies are very unusual.
