London: Arthur Hall, Virtue, and Co, 1849. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Large 8vo. vii, 218pp, [8pp] ads. Original pale brown cloth with gilt decorated boards and spine, gilt spine lettering, ads to the yellow endpapers. Rebacked, with the original spine mostly preserved. Light wear to the board edges and corners. Bookplate of Thomas W. Lockwood to front paste-down. Complete with 35 engravings, including title-page, map, and folding view, with numerous wood engravings throughout. A small brown stain to the margin of one plate, else the text and plates very clean, the guards present, and just about no foxing.
