Two volumes [English translation from Norwegian] [November][10x8in]; Vol. I - xviii, 384 pp., frontispiece laid in color illustration and over 150 illustrations in text, Vol. II - xiii, 420 pp., frontispiece laid in color illustration and over 150 illustrations in text; Dark Blue cloth covers with blind stamped borders, gilt embossed lettering on front and spine, gilt sunrise illustration on front, top edge dyed blue; Minor shelf wear to edges and corners, Vol. II front free endpaper missing, small faded spot on top of spine. Overall condition is Near Fine with bright color and gilt [Arctic Bibliography 11993]. Fridtjof Nansen (1861 -1930) was a Norwegian explorer, scientist, diplomat, humanitarian and Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
