Madsen's examination of the history of the Northern Shoshoni Indian tribe. They are comprised of four distinct groups of Shoshoni, as well as a related band of Northern Paiute, the Bannock. Encroaching white settlers forced the Northern Shoshone onto the Fort Hall Indian Reservation in Idaho. With numerous black & white photos showing people and scenes described in the book, and a handful of maps. --- In full burnt orange cloth-covered boards with cover & spine titling in black. Volume wrapped in jacket with group photo of numerous Shoshoni tribespeople, and another of a cluster of their tipis. --- A clean, tightly-bound, bright copy though with very slight wear to cover extremities. Unclipped dust jacket ($17.95) with a two-inch tear to back panel & a little rubbing, else remaining bright and intact; wrapped in removable archival mylar protector.
