London: Smith, Elder & Co., 1887. Leather. Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Red boards with double gilt fillet and inner dentelles; gilt decorated spine with black title label and raised bands; marbled endpapers and edges. Very slight scuffing to leather. Award sticker from "Shipley House" on front end paper. The book came to Good Reading with the front board virtually detached from the body of the book. It has been professionally restored meaning that although the spine retains the original strip, this has been glued onto new red cloth.The hinges have also been reinforced. The book looks as though it was ever thus. Internally near fine. A very attractive copy. Illustrated. Buckland was inspector of Fisheries.
