Hardcover. 8vo, The First Edition, iv,144,[4]p., publisher's ads., in the publisher's original quarter paper over blue paper boards with the original printed paper label, binding is dust worn, wear on the board edges and corners, sound, a very good to fine copy in its original uncut state. (cgc) Without the map which was issued separately but was included starting with the third edition. Howes "apparently map not present in all copies". T.P.L. Lande., Waterston, Sabin, Streeter, Howes B468; Sabin 5569. Clark v2, #4, Morris Birkbeck (1764- 1825) was an English social reformer and anti - slavery campaigner who emigrated to America in 1817. Morris was a co-founder of the prairies settlement town of Albion, Illinois.
