London: Edward Stanfor, 1878. [3],iii,[3],260pp. Folding frontispiece map. Half title. Original gilt-stamped pictorial cloth. Cloth lightly rubbed. Three leaves including preface and contents are laid in loosely. Scattered light foxing. Good. The author, a member of Parliament, went to the Pacific and back across the Union Pacific, taking in the California sites as well. Vivian visited Utah and includes notes on the Mormons and polygamy. The letters published here were originally published in Vivian's local paper, and he put them together in a book on his return. COWAN, p.662. FLAKE 8545. ADAMS, HERD 2414
