Blue morocco, F. 6 volumes, [iv]+xiv+429pp, xiv+416pp, xiv+568pp, xiv+521pp, xiv+252+333pp, x+476pp, b/w frontis to each volume, grand total of 46 b/w plates, all edges gilt, leather in fine condition, slipcase slightly damaged with a split along two edges. The works of Austen with the text based upon collations of the early editions, carried out by the book collector & scolar R W Chapman [ 1881 - 1960 ], with much assistance from his wife, Katherine Marion Metcalfe who he met at Oxford & who was instrumental in igniting his interest in Austen.

A fine book will look almost like the day it was bought, a VG one will have some evidence of prior ownership, G means a nice clean copy, obviously secondhand & P implies a COMPLETE copy that has suffered a hard life & will need some TLC. We take into account the books age when grading, so a 250 year old book graded as VG will look more second hand that a 5 year old book graded the same. On the Net since 1998. All prices are in GBP.
