Beautiful complete set of "The Novels of the SISTERS BRONTE" in terrific condition. 1924; John Grant "Thornton Edition"; Edinburgh, United Kingdom. Each volume contains a frontispiece and numerous full-page illustrated plates. Gilt top edges. Complete set in 12 volumes.

Condition:
Wonderful condition complete set that nearly appears unread. All volumes are tightly bound with no cracks and no loose pages. Some pages were found to still be attached/un-cut at the outer edge. Bright gilt on the spines and top page edges. The volumes are clean both inside and out with only a few minor issues, as follows: Wuthering Heights and Agnes Grey each have a bookplate affixed to the front pastedown. Life of Charlotte has a 1" x 2" clipping of a publisher's ad for this set affixed to the front end paper. Shirley vol II has a small, light stain at the top edge of the front cover. Villiette vol II has tanned rear end papers from a newspaper clipping of portraits of the Bronte Sisters that was left between the pages. The Professor has a small blue stain at the top edge of the title page.

Browne. Condition:Light soiling to covers; worn corners. Both volumes are tightly bound with no cracks and no loose pages. VOL I: a section at the top edge of the spine has chipped off; tiny tear at bottom-center of spine; tear at center of hinge between left edge of spine and back cover. Heavy foxing to the end papers leading up to the opposite side of the frontispiece (but not on the frontispiece); lighter, consistent foxing throughout the book. Name written in pen at top edge of title page; otherwise good condition pages with no writing, stains or tears found. VOL II - similar page condition to Vol I.

This is a scarce, very early Charles Dickens book that was published when he was only 25 years old. "PUBLIC LIFE OF MR. TULRUMBLE, ONCE MAYOR OF MUDFOG" by Boz ("Boz" was the pen name of Dickens). 1837; Carey, Lea and Blanchard; Philadelphia. The book contains "Other Tales and Sketches, from Bentley's Miscellany, and the Library of Fiction" including a story by James Fenimore (spelled "Fennimore" on the contents page) Cooper titled "An Evening of Visits." There are 11 stories in all - please see the photos for the complete list of contents. This is one of the first stories by Dickens published in book form in the United States.Condition:Worn corners (the tips of the boards are exposed); 1/2" cloth tears at the top edge of the spine, small cloth tears at the bottom edge.
