Charles Scribner's Sons, 1895. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Good ; No jacket. 1895 Charles Scribner's Sons. NOT ex-library. 1895 stated on title page; no later dates on verso. Hardcover has red cloth-covered boards with gold spine and cover lettering and decorations. Spine has gold thistle flower pattern in three sections; front cover has gold ruled border. Top page edges gilt. Deckle fore and bottom edges. Black & white frontispiece by William Hole has tissue guard. Front hinge partially cracked inside of front free endpaper but still intact and functional. Corners and spine ends rubbed, with minor fraying at tips. A few small chips in the surface of the cloth near bottom corner. Spine slightly sunned and faded. Gilt on top edge worn at corner. Pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. Endpapers lightly foxed. Pages clean and unmarked. 291 pages. No dust jacket. Cover title: "The Novels and Tales of Robert Louis Stevenson" Half-title page indicates this is Vol. IX.
