New York: Scribner's, 1895. Hardcover. Very good. 8vo. Publisher's cloth with gilt thistle decorations on spines. Gilt top edge. Hand-pressed paper with deckle edge. Frontispiece in each volume.
This is a 14-volume set (of an original 26-volume set) of the first printing of the complete works of Robert Louis Stevenson. All volumes are Very Good condition, with common flaws being shelf wear and sunning to spines as well as overopened hinges. Most volumes have the attractive bookplate of Mr. Maughan (see below). Vol. 13 (Virginibus Puerisque etc.) has a letter from Richard Burton copied onto the front free endpaper in pen. All are tight and clean. Contains the following volumes:

This set is from the estate of Rex Maughan (1936-2021), major Robert Louis Stevenson collector and archivist who, as Chairman of the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, greatly contributed to the preservation of Stevenson's estate in Valima, Samoa. (Prideaux 276).
