London: Gibbings & Co. Limited, 1902. Book. Very Good. Half Leather. 12mo (11.5 x 17.5cm). Finely bound set in contemporary, matching red morocco in an 'Arts and Crafts' style with gilt lettering and floral gilt decoration to the spine. Red marbled and gold paper-covered boards matching end papers; top edge gilt. Limited edition of 2,000 copies; letterpress and pictorial title pages; b/w plates with captioned tissue guards. Bindings very good with slight wear only, contents clean and tight; attractive engraved bookplates of Frederick Freke Palmer to the front paste-downs, otherwise more or less unmarked, no inscriptions, a few page edges slightly scruffy where untidily opened. A very attractive set in very good condition. The set includes: The Flitch of Bacon in 1 volume; Tower of London in 2 volumes; Saint James in 1 volume; Old St. Paul's in 2 volumes; Guy Fawkes in 2 volumes; Windsor Castle in 2 volumes; The Star Chamber in 1 volume; The Spendthrift in 1 volume; Crichton in 2 volumes; Rookwood in 2 volumes; The Miser's Daughter in 2 volumes and Jack Sheppard in 2 volumes. [Note on provenance: Frederick Freeke Palmer was a well-known London lawyer.].
