About This Item

Oak Bluff: Oak Bluff Women's Institute, 1984. As new. Hard bound, first edition, v + Pp423. Includes index. A fine, unmarked copy. From the Preface: ""The incentive to write a history of our community came from the Provincial Women's Institute in the 1950's when they urged each district for a history scrapbook. An Oak Bluff Womens Institute History Committee was formed then, and some information was gathered at interviews with older citizens. Due to sickness and senior citizens leaving the district, the history project was delayed for some time. In the early 1980's, interest was accelerated when we realized that we must take advantage of sources of information while still available. Further impetus was given when we became aware of the availability of government grants to aid in the financing. We endeavored to contact all residents and former residents of Oak Bluff. We have recorded the family histories which were given to us, as accurately as possible. We regret if there are any errors or omissions. The publication of Oak Leaves is intended to carry the mind back to the early days, that honor may be bestowed upon the pioneers and that the story of their experience and achievements might be told."" We welcome all reasonable offers on our books. All books in stock and available for immediate shipment from Winnipeg, Manitoba.
