[WITH THE FOLDING MAP]......xvi, 17-306 [ii pub. list.]pp. Folding map of Calabria, Saleerno and the Isle of Sicilly. Outline hand-colour and yellow border. Published by John Stockdale 1792. 34x36cms and large margins. One fold corner small loss otherwise a crisp and clean folding map. Original full tree calf but lacking the spine [crudely taped]. Large paper copy with wide margins. Very clean and tight text block with original marbled end-papers. Nice hand inscription ''Purchased this at the sale of The Duke of Buckinghams Stowe Library. Jan 18 _1849. H G Crapp.'. [S.Leigh Sotheby & Co. disposed of 20,000 books when the second Duke went bankrupt in a two day sale in the Strand , London]. A SCARCE ITEM. 1st edition. Hardback. London: Printed for John Stockdale, Piccadilly, 1792 Book. Good. Hardcover. [3]-306 pages + folding map as frontispiece. Here bound without the half title page or the advertising leaf. ESTC T88126. Armorial bookplate to the front pastedown of John Drummond. Small pinhole sized worming to the lower margin of the map and the front board. In old full leather, but the leather has peeled back from one corner and the spine is worn and has repaired tears..
