Photographic endpapers, both different, showing different jazz bands. The text is illustrated with 76 black-and-white photographs. Red coloured boards with white writing on the front panel and spine. Bumping into the top right-hand corner of the front panel and a little shelfwear to the lower book edges. Photographic dust wrapper, showing Louis Armstrong, against a white background with black and red writing on the front panel and spine. A little rubbing to the top and bottom dust wrapper edges. The major detraction from the dust wrapper is the noticeable yellowing of the white of the background. Clipping of the dust wrapper, front fold over, lower right-hand corner. " The story of Jazz is both complex and enthralling. Mark White handles the subject with a clarity that never masks his infectious enthusiasm.
