Sir Edmund Percival Hillary (1919-2008) was a New Zealand mountaineer, explorer, adventurer, philanthropist and author. Mountaineering was his first adventures cumulating in achieving the summit of Mount Everest in May 1953 with Sherpa Tenzing Norgay. As a philanthropist, he supported development of Nepal schools and helping the Sherpa people.

This book is about traveling 1,500 miles up the Ganges River to the Himalayas in 1977. It was a journey of remberance and skill in transiting the rapids and climbing Akash Parbat.
