London: Booksellers of London and Westminster, 1700. 2nd Printing, 1st Thus . Full-Leather. Fair-/No Jacket. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. Title page is done in Red and Black print. Balance of title is "Some whereof are now published from his own manuscripts, The whole collected, methodiz'd and, and review'd with an exact account of his Life prefix'd, by John Toland." Paragraph in Latin, "LONDON, Printed and to be sold by the booksellers of London and Westminster, M.DCC." Measures 12 1/2 X 8 1/2", gatefold in place between pgs.112 and 113. 546 pages, all text appears present. First pastedown has small pencil notes from prior owner, business card size xlibris label, front board wholly detatched at hinge.Next endsheet has frontis. illus. verso, followed by title page, verso blank. a 6 page note (Toland to Lord Mayor) a 4 page preface followed by blank sheet, illus. of Harrington verso. This is followed by Life Of Harrington numbered in Roman numerals from XIII to XLiv. The main body of the title/text then commences with page 3 as the first numbered. Back boards hinging is there but weak, board not detatched. Last paste down was ill done or reworked long ago. Last several pages have longish line of bookworm damage to lower margin. Last endsheet (blank/discolored) has fingernail size missing piece in its field. Text has the odd smudge and corrected dog ear. First pages have old moisture stain at lower extremity. No notable edge chip, much pinpoint and other foxing, considerable color variegation is present in the aged text. The books boards are quite edge rounded, abrasion thru leather, not badly shaped to text. Rough however, with scratches and scars. The gilt board edging is nearly gone. The spine with heavy abrasion is ribbed and top/bottom chipped. Major abrasion at the front board separation. Foto will follow shortly. Domestic shipping at our customary one book price. We provide delivery confirmation and insurance at our expense. Book is now stored as air tight as possible in acid free glassine sleeve.
