About This Item

The sole printing published by Heibonsha, Tokyo, Japan in 1957. The BOOK is in Near Fine condition. Mild offsetting of the wrapper edges to the blank end-papers. Free from inscriptions. A hint of toning to the outer page edges in a few places. Stiff cardboard covers. The photo-pictorial WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition with just the slightest wear to the spine tips. The scarce original Glassine WRAPPER is present and is in VERY GOOD++ condition with just a small chip to the lower rear edge and and a small closed tear to the upper rear spine fold. Photographs and a brief text by Edouard Boubat. Additional text by Bernard George. Eight pages of text in French and Japanese. Forty pages with reproductions of photographs of which 8 pages with full colour plates. The award winning photo journalist's striking perspective of those who live their lives in harmony with, and at the mercy of, the sea. A very nice example of an increasingly elusive title. More images available on request. Collectible. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
