About This Item
Dublin: Printed by S. Powell, for G. and A. Ewing, 1745.. 8pp. Quarto. Extracted from nonce pamphlet volume. Early manuscript indexing number in upper margin of title, otherwise a very good copy. First edition. On the occasion of its presentation, this Ode was set to music by Matthew Dubourg, "Chief Composer and Master of the Music attending His Majesty's State in Ireland." Neither this copy nor any of the copies of record include a printed form of the music. Burroughs (1714-1786), a Trintiy College graduate, was called upon to compose similar Odes marking the same occasion in 1743 and 1747. Toward the end of his career, he served as Archdeacon of Derry. FOXON B590. ESTC T185871.
