About This Item

London: Grant Richards Limited, 1916. First Separate Edition. Shortly after the publication of Inclinations, Firbank decided to reprint Odette D'Antrevernes. "In June or July he revised the text of Odette, working directly on a copy of the 1905 version...The effect of all the changes, as Firbank later told Carl Van Vechten, was to make this Odette "less naif" than the 1905 version" (Benkovitz, pp.148-49). Benkovitz A4. One of 2,000 copies. Slim octavo (21cm); original stiff beige pictorial wrappers; publisher's original beige unprinted paper dustjacket; [44]pp, with four illustrations by Albert Buhrer. Base of spine gently nudged, trivial wear along lower edge, with very subtle toning to wrappers; a fresh, very Near Fine copy. Dustjacket is edgeworn, sunned at spine and extremities, with a few tiny nicks and tears; Very Good+.
