Bound in green balloon cloth with a green topstain. Green endpapers and pastedowns. A complete and unabridged prose translation by S.H. Butcher and Andrew Lang. The first Modern Library Edition of Homer's Odyssey, scarce in collectible condition. Toledano 167.1. A Near Fine book with remnants of a price written on the free front endpaper; dust jacket is Very Good with moderate edge wear.
Synopsis
The Odyssey (Greek: Ὀδύσσεια, Odýsseia) is one of two major ancient Greek epic poems attributed to Homer. It is, in part, a sequel to the Iliad, the other work traditionally ascribed to Homer. The poem is fundamental to the modern Western canon. Indeed it is the second—the Iliad being the first—extant work of Western literature.
