Spine ends and edges rubbed, spine discoloured, edges and corners of covers rubbed, cover a little worn, front cover has small black ink marks in a localised area, foxing on edges of text block, foxing on endpapers, inscribed on the front free endpaper is "Clémencs Noël 1952". Internal pages are clean and clear. Overall, a very good copy. First edition. This 1932 translation of Homer's The Odyssey is famous for being the work of T. E. Shaw, more widely known as T. E. Lawrence, or Lawrence of Arabia. This volume includes a translator's note by Shaw/Lawrence describing his approach to the translation and offering his own thoughts on Homer's epic poem.
