About This Item

New York: J.W. Waring, 1922. First edition. Hardcover. Good (outer pages lightly foxed, covers rubbed). 342p, many photos and ads for equestrian and luxury goods (riding apparel, hotels, furs, ocean cruises, etc.). Unlike most volumes in the series, this one was published without a mounted cover photo. "Containing complete summaries of all recognized horse shows in the United States; official awards in all classes; table of champions and reserve to champions; 'stars' of the season of 1922. Hunt team appointments; list of exhibitors and exhibitors using farm names, etc. The recognized authority on correct appointments." Covers chiefly Saddlebred and Hackney showing, also hunter-jumper classes. The texts include the "Silver Crest Story" and promotion for the Paris Horse Show by Col. Feline. Harry Worcester Smith wrote the text on hunt appointments. The frontispiece is a photo by Haas of Miss Clara S. Peck. A wonderful resource! (Wells 5518) (We have other volumes in this series; please inquire.).
