The trio of authors describe the stories of 8 of these lines and the people who organized them, operating in either coastal areas or in mountainous inland areas. With over 50 black & white photos, as well as maps of the routes of the lines. --- In brown paper-covered boards with an image of a pair of oil lamps to cover and cover & spine titling, all in dark brown. Jacket with color W. C. Merritt painting to front panel. --- A clean, tightly-bound copy but with age-toning to endpapers. Poor-only, unclipped jacket ($5.00) with several missing chips and chunks and some dampstains but mostly intact and wrapped in removable archival mylar protector.; Tall Octavo - 9 to 10 in. tall; (16), 187 pages .
