Fine in fine marbled cloth and brown morocco chemise, backstrip with color onlays and lettered in gilt in matching slipcase, corners rubbed. 206 page. 29 x 20.5 cm. Limited edition, copy 31 of 50 on Japan paper. 110 illustrations by Hector Giacomelli, 2 extra original watercolors signed by Giacomelli -- following the limitation page, and prior to the limitation page. Two title pages, the second also an original watercolor. The interior wood engravings by J. Huyot. Gicomelli a French watercolorist, engraver and illustrator, best known for his paintings of birds also worked with Gustave Doré, for which he composed ornaments like "The Holy Bible according to the Vulgate", published in 1866. Covers hand bound by Parisian designer/book binder, Charles Lanoe, full mustard calf with multi-color onlays of birds, flowers at front cover, and a nest with eggs on the back cover. Inner dentelles of mustard calf with decorative onlays in rose and green house silk moire endpapers with same elaborate onlay motif on spine.
