Woodcut illustration and designs sporadically throughout. Classic text in which Hazlitt explores "The Early Englishman and his Food"; "Royal Feasts and Savage Pomp";"Diet of the Yeoman and the Poor"; "Meats and Drinks";"The Kitchen"; "Meals"; "Etiquette of the Table"; and a large four-part section of "Cookery Books" which includes bibliography and select extracts of "Early Receipts". In green cloth with slight bumping and rubbing at edges, publisher's gilt stamped logo on front cover. Unevenly cut leaves with minor discoloration, otherwise very good. [Bitting cites just London 1902 edition, page 221; Simon Bibliotheca Vinaria, pages 220 -21; Vicaire 439].
