Octavo; brown 'S' cloth, with titling stamped in gilt and decorations stamped in black on spine and front panel; [viii],299,[3]pp. Some light rubbing to edges, with a touch of faint spotting to preliminary and terminal leaves; hinges sound - Near Fine. An attractive copy of the author's first book, a collection of seven stories centering on Creole culture in New Orleans, which were first published in the pages of Scribner's Monthly. BAL 2330.
