During the past ten years numerous requests for copies of the book A History of South Hadley's Old Homes Built Before 1850 (1976) have convinced the members of the South Hadley Historical Society of the need for a revised edition. Some of the houses are no longer in existence, and it was felt that some additional homes should be included, and that, in some cases, the information should be amplified, improved or updated. A Committee on Old Homes of the South Hadley Historical Society was set up and has prepared this revision of the original text. The format has been changed to include more architectural information similar to that in the National Register of Historic Places.
