The author is a well-know naturalist and explorer of the mountains between Banff and Jasper, Alberta. Her book, upon publication, was well received and remains a desirable travel narrative into country previously known only to scattered trappers and prospectors. One reviewer of the time commented: "this book has an individuality all its own. For twenty years Mrs. Schaffer has been coming to the Canadian mountains and she has got closer to them in every sense of the word than any author, newspaper editor, descriptive writer or the special man ever will if he lives a thousand years." EB; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
