Dustwrapper a little soiled and foxed; earlier owner's name signed on front free endpaper; some foxing to edges and endpapers, occasional fox spot elsewhere. Good condition. '"No man ever commanded a fleet in better style than Lord St. Vincent; no man ever displayed better judgment in the selection of his officers; no man knew better how to enforce discipline; no man ever displayed greater promptitude in action, or made better use of the means placed at his disposal." John Jervis, Earl of St. Vincent, was indeed one of our great seamen, and Admiral Sir William James, himself a seaman of considerable repute, has done full justice to his great predecessor in this his latest biography.' .
